Language and Culture Week Celebrated at Millstreet Community School
Millstreet Community School recently marked Language and Culture Week with a range of activities held throughout the school, celebrating diversity, inclusion and the many cultures represented within the MCS community.
The week culminated in a wonderful evening gathering in the school library on Thursday, where parents and students came together to share and celebrate their cultures. The event showcased the strong sense of community within the school, with families from a wide variety of countries and backgrounds in attendance.
Guests enjoyed food samples from around the world, giving everyone the opportunity to experience flavours from different cultures. The evening also featured music, song and dance, with performances highlighting the richness and variety of traditions within the school community. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and reflective of the inclusive values promoted throughout the week.
A proud moment on the night was the presentation of the Champion School of Sanctuary award, which was presented by Sara Hakim, Director, to students Kylie, Ria and Andrea. This recognition highlights Millstreet Community School’s ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students and families.
Sincere congratulations and thanks are extended to Mr McGee for organising the week-long celebrations, and to all of the students who took part in the events. A special mention is also due to Ms Seána O’Leary, who did an excellent job coordinating the music for the evening and contributing greatly to the success of the event.
Language and Culture Week was a fitting celebration of the diversity that enriches Millstreet Community School and a reminder of the importance of inclusion, understanding and community within the school.
