Welcome Back
A Great Start to the 2026/27 School Year at Millstreet Community School
There was a great buzz around Millstreet Community School this morning as we welcomed all of our students back for the beginning of the 2026/27 school year.
Our Transition Year students have already started the year in style, heading off on their first trip to Maharees in County Kerry. With the weather on their side, the students are enjoying a day of surfing and water-based activities — a fantastic way to begin what promises to be a busy and exciting TY programme.
We are also delighted to welcome our new Principal, Mr Iggy Dineen, to the Millstreet Community School community and wish him every success in his new role.
While students and staff enjoyed the summer break, work continued throughout the school. Renovations to our gym facilities have progressed very well and are expected to be fully completed within the next couple of weeks. We are very much looking forward to seeing these improved facilities in full use.
Planning also continues for the further development of our school pitch and sporting facilities, and we look forward to progressing these plans during the year ahead.
Another very special new arrival to Millstreet Community School is Archie, our new autism support dog. We are extremely fortunate to have Archie as part of our school community. He will provide additional support for students alongside the excellent facilities and supports already available through our Autism Support Class.
Archie will also very much be part of the wider school community, and we know he will quickly become a familiar and popular presence around the school.
We would especially like to thank Jolanta Radon for welcoming Archie into her home and for undertaking the training and commitment necessary to prepare him for his important role within the school.
With new faces, improved facilities, exciting plans for further development and plenty already happening, there is a real sense of energy and optimism around Millstreet Community School.
We wish all of our students, staff and families every success for the 2026/27 school year and look forward to a very busy and enjoyable year ahead.
