Close Final Decides MCS Chess Champion
Pearse O'Keefe has become the second winner of the Kevin Brennan Memorial Cup, winning a closely fought final by 2 games to 1 against his formidable opponent, Keithan Sheahan.
Both were worthy finalists, having come through several challenges to get to the last round. Well done also to the runners up, Jack Murphy, Reuben Drummond and Abdul Raheem and to all competitors over the tournament.
The tournament honours the late Kevin Brennan, former Maths teacher in MCS and keen chess player who encouraged all pupils to reach their full potential.
This tournament was an enjoyable way to pass lunchbreak during the gloomy spring this year, and also was a great way for students from different years to mingle and make new friends.
