Message from our Principal, Mr. Ó Síodhcháin

Dear Parents and Students.,

It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that after eight very special years, I will be leaving my role as Principal of Millstreet Community School this summer. I have been recommended for appointment as Principal in Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí (Bantry Community College).

I am moving to our local school in Bantry, 20 minutes from where I live as opposed to the 70 minutes it takes me to commute to and from each day. It is an opportunity I was not expecting but one that I could not ignore.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me. Millstreet Community School is a school with a strong sense of care, inclusion and community, and it has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated staff, supportive parents and, above all, such impressive young people. Bhaineas an-taitneamh as bheith in bhur measc.

I am deeply proud of all that has been achieved together, in learning, in sport, in the arts and in the development of the school as a welcoming and ambitious place for all. The spirit of the school and the strength of its community will stay with me.

Rest assured, all of the development projects currently underway will remain a priority of the Board of Management and of the next Principal of this fantastic school.

Thank you sincerely to everyone who has supported me and the school over the past number of years. I will miss the community, the people I have met and got to know well, my colleagues and, most especially, our wonderful students. It has been an honour to have served you all.

I wish Millstreet Community School continued success and every happiness in the future.

Beir bua,

Pól Ó Síodhcháin
