Intergenerational Coffee Morning Brings Community Together

Students from our Transition Year Global Citizenship Education class recently hosted a wonderful intergenerational coffee morning in Millstreet Parish Centre. The event provided a valuable opportunity for young people to meet with members of the local actively retired community, creating a welcoming space to share stories, life experiences and reflections on how life has changed over the years — as well as the things that have remained the same.

In preparation for the morning, the students were busy baking a variety of delicious treats to serve to their guests. Once everyone had arrived, conversations quickly began to flow as students and visitors enjoyed coffee, homemade baking and engaging discussion.

The coffee morning ran from 10.30am until midday, although many agreed that it could easily have continued much longer. The atmosphere throughout the morning was warm and relaxed, with plenty of laughter and thoughtful conversation.

The event proved to be a truly special experience for all involved. It highlighted the value of bringing different generations together, allowing students to learn directly from the life experiences and wisdom of older members of the community.

A special word of thanks goes to everyone who came along and gave their time so generously. Their presence helped make the morning such a memorable and meaningful occasion.

This intergenerational coffee morning will live long in the memory of all who attended.
