Celebration of Culture and Inclusion
The TY Global Citizenship Education (GCE) class is busy preparing for the Celebration of Culture and Inclusion. This year’s event will take place on Thursday 19th November at 7pm in the school library and canteen.
Each year, members of the GCE class volunteer to create a logo for the event. This year’s striking image was created by Jasmyn Myer (TY1) and reflects the wonderful cultural diversity within our school. The Culture and Inclusion Night will once again feature music, song, dance, stories and poetry from different countries, presented by our students. The Irish language and traditional Irish music will also feature prominently.
Following the entertainment, we will move to the school canteen to sample food from different countries. This food is kindly provided by the families of our students, our Home Economics department and local proprietors. We are always truly grateful for their generosity and support.
As a Champion School of Sanctuary, we are delighted and proud to have hosted this event since 2006. As well as being a wonderful night of celebration, the event gives us an opportunity to recognise how important it is for everyone to feel included, valued and ‘seen’ for who they are, wherever their families come from. It helps to foster a genuine sense of belonging and encourages us all to challenge racist attitudes. Our Celebration of Culture and Inclusion is open to the public, and admission is free.
We look forward to welcoming you!
