Millstreet Students Shine at Macroom Food Festival Cook-Off
Two of our talented students, Emma Barrett and Ruby Lehane, proudly represented Millstreet Community School at the Macroom Food Festival Cook-Off on Sunday, 21st September.
Emma and Ruby reached the final six of this exciting competition, where the challenge was to prepare a dish using local produce. The girls impressed the judges with their beautifully presented summer fruit tart, served with freshly whipped cream and Ballymaquirk strawberries.
In creating their dish, they showcased some of the very best of local ingredients, including:
Cream from Kanturk Dairy
Ór Irish Butter from North Cork Creamery
Ballymaquirk Strawberries
Macroom Wholewheat Flour
Homegrown apples
The competition was judged by Mark Doe of Just Cooking Cookery School in Firies, Co. Kerry, who praised the standard of cooking and creativity on display.
Millstreet Community School is very proud of Emma and Ruby for their skill, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the competition.
