The Certified Irish Angus Producer Group holds a competition for schools each year, where students do a project to raise awareness of the angus beef brand. Michael O’Keefe and Béibhinn Moynihan have produced a three-minute video with information on angus cattle, the sponsors (Kepak, ABP and Certified Irish Angus Producer Group) and how the brand can be promoted. If Michael and Béibhinn qualify for the next stages, they will be interviewed on their research. Success here could them qualify to raise and finish five angus calves, with the best calves winning the national competition.

Michael and Béibhinn both come from farms and study Agricultural Science in school, and are developing their interest in the agricultural industry through this project

This exciting competition challenges students to rear five Irish Angus calves over 18 months while completing a research project. The initiative aims to promote the Certified Irish Angus brand while educating students about the care and attention required to produce quality beef for consumers.

Each group also benefits from the proceeds raised through the sale of the animals at the end of the competition. The overall winners also receive a bursary towards further education.
