About Us

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Millstreet Community School.

It is a great privilege to welcome you to our school website. Millstreet Community School is a co-educational, multi-denominational post-primary school under the joint patronage of Bishop of Kerry, C.E.I.S.T. (on behalf of the Presentation Sisters) and Cork Education and Training Board.

As Principal, I am delighted to work with our students, staff, parents, guardians and the wider community, and to be part of the Millstreet Community School family.

Our school has a proud history and a special place within the local community. Since its foundation in 1973, generations of young people have passed through our doors, making friendships, discovering their talents and developing the confidence and skills to take their place in the world beyond our school.

At the heart of our school is a simple belief: Every Student Matters. We want every young person who attends Millstreet Community School to feel welcome, valued and supported. Our Ethos is built around care, respect, inclusion, equality, justice and fairness. We recognise that every student is unique, with their own talents, interests, hopes and challenges, and we strive to help each one of them reach their potential.

Education is about much more than examination results. We want our students to become confident, resilient and compassionate young people who enjoy learning, take opportunities, challenge themselves and have the courage to try new things.

There are many opportunities for students to get involved in school life beyond the classroom through sport, music, school trips, the arts, work experience, leadership and a wide range of further extracurricular activities. These experiences help our students discover their interests, develop new skills and build friendships and memories that will last long beyond their school years.

We are fortunate to be part of a strong and supportive local community. Our relationships with families, clubs, organisations and community groups are hugely important to us, and we look forward to strengthening those connections.

I would like to acknowledge the dedication of our staff, whose care and commitment to our students is evident every day. I also value the partnership we have with parents and guardians. When home and school work together, we can provide the encouragement and support that young people need to flourish.

As Principal, I am excited about the future of Millstreet Community School. We have a proud tradition, a strong community and most importantly, wonderful young people at the centre of everything we do.

My hope is that when our students look back on their time here, they will remember, not only what they have learned, but the friendships they made, the opportunities they took, the challenges they overcame and the people who believed in them.

I warmly invite you to explore our website, get in touch with any questions you may have, or visit us in person. We would be delighted to welcome you and give you the opportunity to experience for yourself what makes Millstreet Community School such a special place.
