πŸ₯Ύ The 12 Apostles Are Going for Gold! πŸ₯‡

From the Butter Road Camino to the Gaisce Gold Award

Following the hugely successful Butter Road Camino, the 12 Transition Year students from Millstreet Community School are now setting their sights on their next challenge β€” Gaisce Gold! 🌟

Having completed the historic 117 km Butter Road Camino from Listowel to Cork City, over five days, the group has already demonstrated incredible commitment, resilience, teamwork and determination. Their journey is now continuing as they take on the challenge of completing their Gaisce Gold Award.

The students have become known as the β€œ12 Apostles”, and their Butter Road Camino was about much more than walking 117 km. It was a journey of friendship, personal development, community, heritage and fundraising, raising money for Breakthrough Cancer Research and Mellon Educate.

Now, the same spirit of adventure and service is being channelled into their Gaisce Gold journey.

🌿

The achievements of the 12 Apostles are part of a much wider Gaisce journey taking place in Millstreet Community School this year.

A total of 49 students across MCS are taking part in the Gaisce programme, competing for Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

This represents a fantastic commitment to personal development within the school and demonstrates the progression that is possible through the Gaisce programme β€” from Bronze, to Silver, to Gold, with students continually challenging themselves to develop new skills, contribute to their communities and embrace physical and personal challenges.

🏫 A Great Example of Progression in a Rural School

For a rural school such as Millstreet Community School, the involvement of 49 students across all three Gaisce levels is a wonderful example of how a strong culture of participation can develop and grow.

The Gaisce programme gives students opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, develop independence, contribute to their communities and discover what they are capable of achieving.

The journey from Bronze to Silver and ultimately to Gold provides students with a clear pathway of challenge, achievement and personal growth.

For the 12 Apostles, their Butter Road Camino has provided an unforgettable foundation for the next stage of that journey.

The Camino may be complete β€” but the journey to Gold has only just begun! πŸ₯ΎπŸŒŸ

12 Apostles. One journey. One goal. Going for Gold! πŸ₯‡
