REVEAL: OUR NEW SCIENCE LABS

The wait is over! Our new labs are here! At a cost of €600,000, all funded by the Department of Education, we now have laboratory facilities among the best in the country.

We are delighted that all classes will resume practical work in the labs on a phased basis over the next week. Each lab is designed for the new syllabus at Junior Cycle and will easily accommodate the current Senior Cycle syllabus and any future changes across Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, all of which are taught to Leaving Certificate level.

The labs are equipped with modern preparatory rooms and massive 75 inch touch screen TVs which double as part of the whiteboards. Students will be able to cast their work from devices at each pod directly to these screens. Integrated soundbars are also installed to ensure the best quality audio. Each lab is also equipped with an electronic height adjustable workstation for those who may need it.

The very best in modern safety systems are integrated into each lab with electronic measurement systems in place for gas, water and electricity. The lighting in each lab is photosensitive and adjusts acutomatically according to the natural light level present.

This was a massive undertaking by the school. All existing labs were completely gutted. All ceiling levels were raised and all services were redirected under the existing floor. We now have amazingly spacious and bright labs that we hope will serve our school and community well into the coming years.

Thanks to our Main Contractors, BM Construction (Damien Bradley and Tony McCarthy), our architects Spentide, particularly John McCarthy and Noreen O’Shea and our Engineers, JODA, particularly Danny Leahy and Ben Barry. Excellent work by an excellent team!
