Mr John Warren Youth Development Officer with Young St. Vincent De Paul received a cheque on September 25th from Fifth Years who were involved in a project on homelessness  during RE with Mrs Randles, when they were in TY.

While in Transition Year 2019/2020   TY 1 researched the  causes of homelessness, the effects of homelessness, and agencies that help such as  Fr Peter McVerry Trust, Merchants Quay Ireland, Cuan Mhuire, The Society of St Vincent DePaul, Focus Ireland, Threshold and the Simon Community.

As a result of their research, they decided to put their new understanding into action. They decided to have a bake sale, so with the help of their Home Economics teacher Ms. Sheehy they set to work and also baked at home. They sold their cakes in January at break time and lunch time and raised €300 for the SVP Homeless Shelter, Vincent’s hostel in Anglesea Street, in Cork.
