GCE Take Action on Climate Change

With COP26 taking place in Scotland in the coming weeks and with the urgency of climate change as a risk to the future, it made perfect sense to use it as an opportunity to bring the climate crisis to everyone's attention once again. The school GCE group grabbed the issue, and didn't want to just talk about it- they wanted to respond in a practical way, so they undertook two actions.

Firstly they composed and send a letter to Minster Eamon Ryan setting out why they feel COP 26 is so important and requesting that he and other world leaders take urgent action on issues such as global temperature increase and equitable treatment of communities worst hit by the impact of climate change.

Secondly, they created a three minute video which set COP26 in context and explained why we should all take an interest in what arises from this huge global gathering. Watch this video on the following link- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLt79mCS9Qsi Rachel Dineen, Lillian Ebererchi and Veda Murphy deserve sp ecial mention for all their work on these actions. Group members are Rachel Dineen, Holly Dunne, Lilian Eberechi, Brian Fitzgerald, Nicole Kelleher, Patrick Lane, Hugh Linehan, Veda Murphy, Alan O'Leary, Edward Ring, Jack Ring, Szymon Szymankiewicz and Killian Reardon.
