TY Students Enjoy Comedy & Drama Workshop with Bernard Casey
Transition Year students at Millstreet Community School enjoyed a fantastic opportunity this morning as well-known Kerry comedian, actor and drama teacher Bernard Casey returned to the school to deliver his annual Comedy & Drama Workshop.
Bernard worked with the TY students across two separate sessions during the morning, giving as many students as possible the opportunity to get actively involved in what has become a very popular annual event on the TY calendar at MCS.
The workshops provide students with a fun and engaging introduction to the world of comedy, drama and performance. Throughout the sessions, students are encouraged to get involved in a variety of activities covering areas such as acting, improvisation, comedy, character development, movement and sketch creation.
While there are always plenty of laughs, the workshop also provides students with an opportunity to develop a range of important skills. Working individually and in groups encourages students to think on their feet, communicate effectively, work collaboratively and step outside their comfort zones.
For Transition Year students in particular, experiences such as this are a valuable way of developing self-confidence, creativity, communication and teamwork in an enjoyable and practical setting.
Bernard, who is originally from Portmagee in Co. Kerry, has built a successful career as a comedian and performer and has also developed his drama workshops specifically for secondary school students.
We would like to sincerely thank Bernard for once again taking the time to visit Millstreet Community School and for providing our TY students with such an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
We look forward to welcoming him back again in the future!
